The Occupation History of the Town Burgage Plots

Research Goal Many of Thame's town burgage plot boundaries are very well preserved. The ambitious aim here is to combine nineteenth century census information with a variety of other sources such as property deeds and probate documents to build up a history of individual plot occupation going back to the seventeenth century. Progress to Date Much work has been done on those plots where inns have stood. There is still much to do, and any new property deeds or probate records would be invaluable. The 18th Century Research Project is a valuable contribution towards this goal, although it has just started and has many months to go. |
